Hospital Attendant

Job Summary:
Conducts a variety of housekeeping functions relevant to the operation of a small animal hospital and provides basic animal care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge Of:
General housekeeping and procedures including basic animal husbandry, organization, and disinfecting.
Ability To:
- Leash-walk all types of dogs;
- Clean various messes associated with animals;
- Lift a 40 lb dog into a cage;
- Clean a litter pan and food bowls;
- Launder towels and blankets;
- Operate a vacuum and mop;
- Restock medical supplies;
- Act professionally in the presence of clients;
- Keep simple records;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Maintain a neat professional appearance;
- Maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship with coworkers
Education: Equivalent to completion of 10th grade
Experience: Some previous exposure to pets and an affinity to animals.
Specific Duties:
- Walk dogs, clean litter pans, and clean runs and cages.
- Provide food, water, litter, and clean towels to patients as needed.
- Bathe and brush animals.
- Launder towels and blankets.
- Give status of patients to the Technician on duty.
- Maintain the appearance of the hospital.
- Organize and stock hospital supplies.
- Assist other staff as directed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
